further to the above..
I called the refund number only to find myself in a electronic system which finalised in an answer machine asking for my mobile number.DODGY!I gave my number.
Could this put me back on the scam?
Ill let you know the outcome.

I also fell foul to this scam from a competion scratch card and only answered one question.
I tried to send a “stop” message but it failed and months later realised the company was taking £5.00 a week off my pay-as-u-go and thought it was being used with the talk time.
Should you be in this position then ring 01701 221777 and a nice person will promise to put a “stop” on your account.
You can ask for a refund if you want by calling 0844 412 3021 you might get lucky.

Yes, they seem to have removed my details as I’ve not had any problems with them since. I’ve also not noticed any increase in spam SMS messages I’ve been receiving either.

I think your right Adam. The key is “they took your money without your permission”. I also find it odd that someone who pays that much in fines takes time to post a personal blog comment if you get me.

Well, you’re right. I did some research on 2 Ergo Ltd myself and indeed found that they had been fined by ICSTIS. However, from my point of view it was dealt with very quickly and efficiently – to my satisfaction basically. This was maybe a surprise considering how little help O2 were.

I’m absolutely not suggesting that “oh well, they were friendly about it so it’s ok that they took money from me without my permission”, but it seems to have turned out ok in the end.

I’ve still not cashed my cheque yet… perhaps I should get back on the phone to them and ask them to pay a “processing fee”…

They also used to be called Lammatra Multiserve who have a similarly poor record for fines and also spamming peoples email addresses.

2 Ergo has been fined 10k, 15k and more by ICSTIS. The fact they posted here shows they only refunded for positive publicity, but they are frequently engaged in negative acts. Indeed they even tried to defend 767 media to ICSTIS. Hmm looks like you fell hook line and sinker for the “polite lady”, but at least you got a refund.
